and his middle name is Bingley

it's a mystery why private developers in singapore can produce something like one george street,
while new public buildings like the national library and SMU are such
garish, lumbering monstrosities. Singapore needs more smart and elegant
buildings, not garish, overblown projects. Maybe the public sector
should hand out more contracts to the likes of skidmore, owings and merrill. It'd certainly help improve the aesthetics of our city.

that was what I was thinking last night, while sinking into the black leather couch at indochine.

indochine is a great chillout spot, located right next to the river,
with good music and a pretty extenisve drinks list. I was there for
post dinner drinks with my ex-flatmates, the pea and WL, and for a
group as large as ours, it was a perfect place to relax, reminisce and
enjoy one
another's company, over heineken and erdinger (I don't like heineken
much, but weissbier is always good).

we would probably have called it a night much earlier, if sam hadn't
joined us. Thanks to her, we had lots of engrossing and intellectual
conversation, stretching into the wee hours. Maybe it's a sign I'm
getting old, when I find myself entertained by sam and a rather tipsy
junlong debating the role of the civil service in singapore. Or maybe
that's maturity?

so we whiled the hours away, over soft lighting, beer and bordeaux.
It was one of the most enjoyable nights I've had, since I returned last
year. Now I only wish I could have a few more.
