it's here again: the reminder that another year has passed.

thanks are due to all the people who have been kind enough to wish me well. If you haven't, may you be afflicted with incurably irritating itches all over your body until you come crawling to me to ask my forgiveness.

being the person that I am, I have mixed feelings about birthdays (and almost everything else). It's nice to get messages and cards and get reminded that there are people who care even when I've been too lazy and depressed to keep in touch. On the other hand, it's an in-your-face announcement: time's passing, and I'm getting older/dumber/duller, with not much to show for it.

still, I guess life would be far less interesting without birthdays.

this time every year, I tell myself that I should be less withdrawn. Obviously it hasn't worked. So this year I'll make a different resolution. Maybe they come down to the same thing; maybe not. Hope that it's easier to stick to though. We'll see. *shrugs*

so, my resolution. It simply says:

be happy with what you have, mate.
