one final time in oxford

the company just came to pick up the boxes to ship back to s'pore. The collection time is from 8am to 1pm, and I woke up at 8.30, so I was slightly worried that they might have come and gone. But things turned out fine.

went up to oxford for one last time yesterday. The main draw was this place called 'The Trout Inn' , which is kinda like a pub but serves higher-class (well, more expensive at least) and tastier fare (they do wonderful profiteroles, for example), and has some great scenery as well. One of my lunch companions commented that it tasted more like french food than english. Seeing as traditional english food seems to consist solely of overwhelming amounts of potatoes and other carbs, meat, and gravy, I'm tempted to agree.

painfully aware that yesterday was going to be the last time I'll be in oxford for a while, and that when I next go (or should that be if?) it's going to be a wholly different situation: no more free accoms and ppl to bring me ard the colleges and tell me about stuff that's just happened. The next time, I'll be there as a total outsider.

and yes, I think I shall remember sitting on a bench along high street, helping myself to special chips while waiting for the oxford tube to arrive. Appreciating the beautiful stateliness of the spires in the fading light. And along the highway, the vast rolling fields tinted by the last splashes of sunlight.

some things end, but life goes on.
