back

'"Well, I'm back," he said.'

That's the last sentence in Return of the King. A rather simple end to a long, complex tale. Rounding up all those faces and words and deeds fair and fell, all those exquisite moments of happiness, excitement and despair. After winding our way along that worn, rutted path, the adventure must draw to a close. The journey ends, we return. Eventually.

It's been a while since I've been back. Most of the time I haven't been doing much; not much that I'd care to mention, anyway. Time, like any other resource, is under-appreciated when abundant. Plus, I've never been the most sociable creature. And I haven't been blogging because there hasn't been anything I wrote that didn't immediately make me cringe and delete it. The previous paragraph exists to serve as an illustration.

So, here I am. Back in the world of the living. Back in the hot, humid world of the living. Not too long left before the army gets me though. Maybe now I'll start making better use of my time left.
