boring

i'm writing this while nervously anticipating being recalled for an
early book-in today. Kinda typical of alpha that we have to spend a
long weekend speculating on whether it'll actually be cut short. The
general consensus is that we'll be back in camp before dinner (part of
me is still in denial though, and refuses to accept this as gospel
truth). Hence the wait for the phone call.

the labour day long weekend was pretty enjoyable. Went swimming, met
up with a few ppl, and (importantly) had a decent amount of sleep for
once. The normalcy of it seemed almost freaky.

currently reading this comic/graphic novel (there's a difference) called 'bone' (you can check out some excerpts here). Bought the entire series, which came in one huge 1300+ page edition, on impulse. Must
say that I haven't regretted it; it's a bit like tolkien and pratchett
and gaiman all together, though not as polished. My only grouse is that
it's all in black and white. Otherwise, I'm happy that one of my impulse
purchases worked out.

watched summer storm
last night, and left the cinema with a vague sense of unease. Guess
deep down I'm still not particularly comfortable with the idea of gay
sex. On an intellectual level I'm fine with it, but watching it on
screen feels really really weird.

guess some things take more effort to accept than others.

oh yeah, before I forget. There's a site called tomorrow.sg
that compiles entries from s'porean blogs. It's only one or two weeks
old, but it's got a pretty interesting collection, from lots of
contributors, and it's definitely worth a look. Go check it out.
