creative commons

just got a creative commons license last night. Since I'm not really expecting ppl to come and take stuff off this blog, getting the license is more for the fun of it than anything else. Basically CC is a kind of limited copyright where the owner of the work (=me in this case) gets to choose the limits. Given the vast amounts of stuff available on the internet, it's a laudable attempt to smooth the flow of information; u don't have to worry about infringing copyright everytime u take something off someone's website if u just follow the simple rules on the guy's CC license. In fact, I think CC has been touted as an alternative to current copyright laws, which haven't really been updated to take into account the explosion of data that accompanied the rise of the internet.

so all in all, CC seems like a good idea that should be supported. Unfortunately the CC license is giving me some problems with regard to site layout. I keep getting the 'this page has both secure and non-secure items' message pop up, and efforts to remove it have been unsuccessful. Think the problem lies with the CC pic at the bottom of the page, but don't really have that much time to investigate it now, so the irritating pop-up is here to stay for a while (unless someone tells me how to solve the problem).

in other news: I've got my plane ticket for the flight back. Leaving on 26th june; not sure what I'm going to do between the time my lease ends and the 26th. Definitely travelling I guess, just a question of where.

trying to mug, but not very successful so far. Mind keeps wandering (presumably to places with more interesting stuff than the solow growth model, transportation economics etc). Maybe I'm getting into the NS mentality, a bit too early.

okay, time to get back to what passes for studying. Haven't even managed to cover half of what I wanted to do today. Argh.
