rodent troubles

Mice get cranky in their old age.

After a couple years of flawless service, my mouse suddenly started behaving erratically: the scroll wheel spluttered and eventually died; in some proof of life after death, days later I found my screen suddenly scrolling by itself; and just for the fun of it, the buttons decided to start working continuously, so that the pointer left a trail of pop-up windows across the screen. It became a situation of using either the keyboard or the mouse, but not both at the same time (try typing while constantly clicking the right mouse button and you'll know why).

So I resorted to euthanasia, and got myself a new logitech mouse. Everything looked hunky-dory once again. But then I came up against the Greatest Tech Support Idea In History.

The mouse needs to have its driver installed to make it work. And the driver for my mouse didn't come with the mouse itself. It's located on the logitech website. Conveniently, it's downloadable if you click on the appropriate icon. Inconveniently, you can only select the icon with a mouse. Pressing TAB like mad doesn't work.

D'oh!
