and the rednecks win it?
had a clash of heads while playing soccer this afternoon. Nothing serious, at least not that I can tell. Just feel more tired than normal, and a bruise on my forehead. Sigh.
the way things are going, it looks like bush is going to serve a second term. Damn. Four more years of unilateralist foreign policy, lack of accountability, and irresponsible economic decisions. Wonder if anyone'll even consider running for president in 2008; he (or she?) will have to clean up the mess that bush's going to leave behind. Chief executive of a country with no security, no money, and no friends. Sounds like a great job. Heck, maybe they should just make bush president-for-life and cheney arch-generalissimo-supreme-grand-high-commander-great-beloved-leader-for-eternity. You know, like Kim Il Sung. After all, no sense in getting anyone else's name tarnished by the kind of irrecoverable mess 8 years of misrule will result in.
there is a lesson in this whole episode. It's that it doesn't matter if you were a loafer in your youth, that you chao-kenged your way through military service, that you displayed utter ineptitude and lack of any intelligence whatsoever in any serious job you did. In the end, having a rich and powerful father with rich and powerful friends will still get you to high places. For one thing, they will help you raise $100 million dollars for your campaign. With that kind of money, what can't you do?
sigh. The world is about to become an even crazier place.
