in wonder

After talking to friends recently, the following questions arise:

Why do all the single people seem so stressed about finding their other halves? Is there some secret race that we're all desperately running, that compels us to seek another person to fill our lives in order to win? Or is it just a serious case of peer (and parent and relative) pressure?

Am I weird, or just plain dumb and lazy, to be actually wondering about this issue, while others are fretting and scheming to get laid attached?

Will I be condemned for eternity if by this time next year I find myself still single (or find myself the only single I know)?

Can all this angst really be traced back to some ancient monkey's urge to produce as many copies of itself as possible?

Life's like a drunk who's just attended the Creative Crustacean Cookery convention: it throws up the strangest things.
